The pressures of fame can be difficult to cope with for a lot of adult stars. So for a person who becomes famous as a child, it can have particularly negative effects. Child stars become accustomed to a lot of praise and attention from strangers. They may be able to buy things that their school-friends can only dream about. They perhaps don’t get to spend enough time with their parents and family, or non-famous friends of their own age and may be subjected to a lot of pressure to work hard and perform well. Their sense of reality becomes distorted, as they are thrust into an adult world for which they don’t have the mental capacity to understand. If work begins to dry up and people are not so interested in them anymore, it can be really damaging to their self-esteem. He was said to be unhappy with his appearance, although he said that the lightening of his skin was due to a condition called vitiligo. He also had two failed marriages. Perhaps fame is not entirely to blame for his troubles as he admitted to suffering physical abuse by his father during his childhood. Michael Jackson died on 25 June 2009 from cardiac arrest.
